Meme Windows OS, Numbers every dev should know and more

It’s Memon Mondays!

This newsletter is my experiment to share all the cool things I find during the week and share them with my like-minded friends.

Windows 93 — A web based OS, spoof on Windows 95. It’s full of memes and has surprisingly many features and easter eggs. Also beware, the chat app is a *real* live chatroom!

Decision fatigue — It’s a concept of how people struggle with their choices after making too many decisions in a given day.

Random Marble Run Generator for 3d Printing — For people who have a 3D printer handy, just read through this thread. If you make this, send me one too 😅. Thanks to my good friend Asif Nadeem Memon for sharing this.

Patent on SIFT Expired — SIFT is a great image-processing algorithm to match and recognize images. It’s great because it is invariant to translations, rotations and scaling. But until now this algorithm was patented and couldn’t be used for commercial applications. You can read more about it here.

The birth of a word — This researcher wanted to understand how his infant son learned language. So he wired up his house with cameras to catch every moment of his son's life, then parsed 90,000 hours of home video to watch "gaaaa" slowly turn into "water." Incredible stuff! Thanks to my brother Shahan Memon for sharing this.

CLUI — A cool concept of a hybrid CLI tool.

Numbers everyone should know — A list of latency numbers every developer should be aware of.

That’s it friends! Have a great week. Be safe, make good choices, and wash your hands.

Also inbox me if you got something cool to share!
